Animal Antics

At times it may appear I am living in a jungle (given the fact there is an overdose of greenery on this blog!). But then if you look closely, you will in fact find a world of creatures out there! And they are all out to have some fun.

Wassup dude?

Wassup dude?

What a challenging look this caterpillar gave me while I tried to frame it!

Can you do this???

Can you do this???

The caterpillar wouldn’t take ‘No’ for an answer each time I tried to push him away from the house, back into the leaves.

This perch is my perch

And this little cricket managed to stay this even though I tried to shake it off its perch.

Amazing circles – It’s addictive!

This weekend I developed an addiction – of making these circles in Photoshop CS2.

These are prepared from a collection of colorful photographs with a very quick technique that I found here (using polar co-ordinates). From bright pics to these eye-catching pieces of abstract art in a jiffy!

It’s a whole new genre of very addictive post-processing! I’m still suffering the hangover… 😉

And here is one more… I’m spinning around!

And I had to add another one..

This was made for a challenge on the Digital Photography School:

Marie Antoinette – The Film

such a rockstar queen… a fresh perspective on an epic… did she really say the words “Let them eat cake”?
hand held camera movements make a historical retelling for a teen audience. It is indeed a party that started a revolution
Marie-Antoinette: This is ridiculous.
Comtesse de Noailles: This, Madame, is Versailles

Such a rockstar queen! This film provides the viewer with a uniquely, fresh perspective on an epic. Hand-held camera movements translate a historical retelling for a teen audience. It is indeed a party that started a revolution.

This was an exchange that I liked best:
Marie-Antoinette: This is ridiculous.
Comtesse de Noailles: This, Madame, is Versailles.

I have a question: Did Marie-Antoinette actually say the words “Let them eat cake”?

Cross the bridge when you get there

This is a bridge I need to cross every day on my way to work.

A colleague once made a very humorous remark. She was complaining that her little daughter needed to learn swimming at school. To make matters worse, the school trains the toddlers learn to swim across the river Mandovi! She added: “Why swim across this river, when there will be always be a bridge!” 😉

Mandovi nights

Mandovi nights

The parallel bridges across the river Mandovi are a sight to behold at night. The sound of the traffic dashing across, the reflected lights in the river, and best of all… the silence in the heart of a noisy town (as long as you don’t mind the mosquitoes while you’re there!)

ADDITIONAL FACTS:

  1. Mandovi Bridge, Goa was awarded THIRD prize in the competition for Most outstanding Bridge National Awards 1995 – Category II by Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers in the year 1995
  2. During the 1980’s the Panaji bridge was notorious for its collapses and in order to ferry heavy transport vehicles a new road bridge was constructed. This bridge of Goa is very useful nowdays as earlier the people had to travel to Panjim via the ferry that shuttles between Panjim’s old steamer jetty and the Betim settlement.
  3. Even though the magnificient Mandovi bridge now looks sturdy many people still travel by the ferry service available every 15 mins from Betim to Panjim and vice versa across the Mandovi river. I too, am terrified if stuck in a traffic jam atop the bridge

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
– Tom Stoppard (British dramatist)

And as someone else added…

“…I got tired of waking up to the smell of burning bridges.” 🙂

Alma Mater – Back to school

Was busying myself with an assignment on DPS on School days when I came across this panoramic image I had composed some time ago of my own school, my alma mater – St. Britto High School. What never fails to impress me is this facade and its sheer magnificence. It is a towering landmark that you cannot miss while entering Mapusa from Panjim.

Spring time

i think this would rank as the closest trek i have undertaken… it’s so miniscule that there is only one reference to this place on the internet!
Kuntla spring / Xelpem spring / Cunchelim spring are the names it is known by – the waters of which are believed to be medicinal.
Camera in hand, my scouting around attracted the attention of this group of boys who were all too proud to guide me around the place. Taking me for a reporter, they wanted their picture in the paper too! (sorry guys!)
This place was novel because of the wild flowers around.
These are extremely tiny, which yo would never notice.
No pics of the spring this time… probably I need to get back there once again

Off the main road, amidst a grove of thick trees, the spring is quite a find.

Company indeed!

American Gangster – The price of the American dream

There are indeed two sides to the American dream… and this is the movie that exemplifies just that.
This is not an action movie. While in an action film you remain detached from the players, out here, you feel with them. You care about them – good guy or bad.
Success. It’s got enemies. You can be successful and have enemies or you can be unsuccessful and have friends.

Owl or Lark?

“You are either an owl or a lark,” a friend advised me. “You need to find the optimal time of the day when you work best.” For your information, I am still trying to figure out that “optimal time”. So you can imagine the consolation that this cartoon brought me. I guess there are many more like me out there…owl or lark?

Chronicles of Narnia – Magical !

Narnia! It's all in the wardrobe!

Narnia! It’s all in the wardrobe like I told you!

Would you believe if anyone told you there existed a magical land… for real. This movie makes me believe! Believe in magic!

Welcome to Mumbai – The Gateway

Gateway of India, Mumbai

Gateway of India, Mumbai

Running through some old panos and found this one. To be honest, with all the classes and activity out here, I began missing Mumbai. It seemed ages since I was there… The Gateway of India was one place where  I’ve always loved to spend time. The jostling crowds, the smell of the sea, the pesky photographers… it’s Mumbai for you!
