Real – Unreal: Kala Academy

The real is but a dream…

A few moments in the evening spent at the Kala Academy, Goa’s premier centre for the performing arts. A couple of friends were down from Mumbai, to meet Juliana De Sa — a reputed teacher in the field of western classical singing. We got down to the topic of how singing and music has taken a backburner in a world of cut throat competition. And yet there are still individuals who relentlessly pursue that dream against all odds. Joanne Marie DeMello happens to be one such person that Goa is proud of.

We wandered around the lobby of Kala Academy and the blend of reality and illusion caught my eye. I was lucky to be carrying my digicam and decided to go for a few panoramas. It’s up to you to decide what is real and what is not.

We went to Kala Academy during our trip to Goa last December. We just missed out on Mario Miranda’s Exhibition. But we did manage to watch a Indian classical recital. The location is beautiful.

    • Hey! Thanks for stopping by… Kala Academy is indeed something Goa can be proud of. The recently held Festival of Ideas too with speakers like Dr Abdul Kalam and the Dalai Lama was an an event beyond compare

  3. That sounds great. Dr Kalam is someone we really look up to. We missed his lecture here in the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington last year. He didn’t come this year 😦
